Salve a tutti
eccomi dopo un pò di tempo.
Ieri, sabato 3 ottobre 2009, vista la possibilità di poter assistere ad una partita del campionato universitario di football americano (qui importantissimo), abbiamo deciso di acquistare due biglietti e di dirigersi all'evento.
Devo dire che la cosa stuzzicava il mio interesse visto che, secondo molti, è proprio il football lo sport nazionale. Assistere a qualcosa di così intimamente americano mi entusiasmava a tal punto di comprare i biglietti ad un costo contenuto ma comunque elevato (55 dollari a testa per via della bontà della coordinatrice del dipartimento). Ho visto e sentito persone pagare ben 400 dollari per 3 persone per assistere a questo match. Gli Irish (ossia il nickname attribuito ai giocatori della Notre Dame University) sono in testa al campionato universitario con due vittorie su due partite. Washington, la squadra sfidante, non aveva mai vinto contro la ND. Insomma una vittoria facile sulla carta...
Ci siamo così mossi da casa circa un'ora e mezza prima dell'evento (appuntamento alle 2.30 pm allo stadio)così da poter essere pronti ad assistere al famoso pre-partita. Vedete, il football americano non è solo un match giocato, ma pure un ritrovo di tutto quello che può circondare la realtà umana annessa all'evento. Lo stadio è il tempio del divertimento e della famiglia. L'ingresso era gremito di persone di ogni età, specie famiglie con bambini (ovviamente rigorosamente tifosi e vestiti con qualcosa che potesse richiamare gli IRISH), giovani, tantissime persone over 60-70-80 e persone con disabilità. Ognuno con il proprio biglietto, il proprio sano spirito sportivo e una gran voglia di divertirsi.
Mi è ovviamente venuto in mente la mia prima (e per ora unica) volta a San Siro dove l'atmosfera era totalmente diversa. Al tempo avevo visto persone invasate, urli fuori e dentro lo stadio, gergo cameratesco, e soprattutto odio verso coloro che non erano della squadra che ospitava l'evento. Pochi bambini, pochissime donne (se escludiamo quelle che ormai sono assimilate a questo sport) e nessun over 60. Come mai? Eppure lo stadio della Notre Dame è ben lontano da essere migliore di quello di San Siro, anzi. Lo stadio della ND è molto simile a quello delle squadre di provincia, ossia gradoni di cemento con panchine di legno (posti piccolissimi vista la mole dell'americano medio).
Siamo entrati in questo tempio aiutati dai numerosi addetti (gentilissimi e pronti ad aiutarti velocemente)e ci siamo accomodati.
Ci siamo trovati molto vicino al campo e con una buona visuale.
Il prepartita è iniziato quasi subito con l'ingresso della mascotte (il lepricon irlandese) portatore della bandiera della ND e da un seguito infinito di cheerleader e dalla banda dell'Università. Poco dopo l'ingresso degli stessi però appartenenti alla squadra di Washington è stato accolto solamente da qualche fischio e semmai da qualche "buuuu". Non altro.

Aggiornamento
Salve a tutti
finalmente trovo qualche minuto per scrivere. Ora abbiamo la connessione internet funzionante e possiamo inviare le foto e i commenti in tempi brevi.
Appena riesco inserirò qualche mio pensiero sui primi giorni negli states, per adesso allego una foto scattata a Chicago durante l'ultimo weekend.

Salve a tutti
finalmente ci siamo. Tra pochi giorni partiremo per gli States. Un mix di agitazione, felicità, eccitazione, paura si sommano nella mia mente. Poter rimanere negli Stati Uniti per un periodo così lungo mi servirà a capire molte cose.
Lunedì abbiamo l'aereo per Dublino, poi martedì partiremo alla volta di Chicago. Ci aspetta un lungo viaggio ma sono certo che ne varrà la pena.
Per chiunque voglia saperlo in anticipo, il nostro fusorario è -6 ossia sei ore in meno rispetto all'orario italiano.

Salve a tutti
ecco il primo post. Per iniziare vorrei pubblicare qualche link e qualche commento riguardo la prossima Università che mi ospiterà. Per dover di cronaca e per ovvi motivi sentimentali devo avvisare che questa esperienza sarà felicemente condivisa con la mia dolce metà (o fiancèe all'Inglese).
